Hello and welcome to Rifle Middle School's Outdoor Recreational Club's blog.
Garfield County is in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. IN the RMS Outdoor Recreation Club we are going to get out and physically experience this beauty, then capture that beauty on film !
Do you like the outdoors? Do you like photography? Do you like adventure? If you can answer yes to any one of those questions than you are definantly RMS Outdoor Recreation Club material.
We offer a wide variety of fun outdoor adventures throughout the 3 school seasons. We have a couple of big activities planned for fall, winter, and spring.
To kick things off right, we are going to start by having meetings twice a month. Our meetings will be the first and third Wednesday of every month after school in Room 303. If you are in other clubs that meet at that time, no worries mate. There will always be a news letter available after every meeting that explains what we discussed and have planned. Once the dates and big activities become more solidified, a calendar of events will be sent out as well and posted here.
Some of the large activity ideas are:
Fall; Basic photography concepts and techniques will be explored on campus and on local hiking trails. The creation of field guides for local wildlife and plant life that will be found on hikes.
Winter; Snowshoe/Cross country ski trip. A tubing and sledding party with a cookout.
Spring; Rifle Gap Days, where students will be able to choose from a variety of activities to participate in all day. Student sponsored art show, displaying our adventures through photography. This may turn into our annual fundraiser if it's as successful as we predict.
So get up, get out and join us for a year of adventures !
